About Kristine W
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember Mom and godmother Joel Wells (Auntie Jo) on flat-top guitars as The Humdingers. My brother and I lay under the table, listening to their "Ring of Fire" harmonies. Johnny Cash is family history—I even named my horse after him! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Al Jarreau, Jarreau Donna Summer, Live And More The Manhattan Transfer, Extensions My roots: Donna Summer’s "Last Dance" was my talent show staple. Al Jarreau taught me jazz phrasing, while Manhattan Transfer’s "Extensions" moved me beyond simple choir harmonies to complex chords. These albums helped define my musical style. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Land of the Living (World Pride Version)” Re-recording "Land of the Living" was a soulful leap of faith that became a beautiful anthem. Closing World Pride DC before a sea of radiant souls with it was pure magic—a moment of connection I'll treasure forever. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? A year after my leukemia diagnosis, I performed at NYC Pride’s Pier Dance on a suspended stage. Joined by my Vegas dancers now on Broadway, I felt so supported. My 3-inch hair was styled into '20s waves & that night inspired me to keep fighting. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? My bucket list: to record funk, gospel, blues, and country albums. I also want to reimagine favorite covers as dance tracks and collaborate with both established and upcoming artists.
