Merz

Merz is the stage name of Conrad Lambert, a British singer/songwriter with an ear for unconventional arrangements. He issued his self-titled debut, an idiosyncratic mixture of pastoral folk with cutting-edge electronic beats and turntable scratching, on Epic in 1999. He resurfaced as an independent artist with the more stripped-down electro-folk effort Loveheart in 2005, and worked with artists such as Orbital's Paul Hartnoll, Matthew Herbert, and Leo Abrahams on his subsequent albums. He worked with new age pioneer Laraaji and multi-instrumentalist/producer Shahzad Ismaily on the meditative 2019 album Dreams of Sleep and Wakes of Sound. After an extended break from releasing music, he returned with the single "Juniper" in 2025.
