About Gabriel Kahane
Gabriel Kahane is a singer/songwriter, pianist, composer, and musical polymath equally at home in classical, theater, jazz, and adult pop settings. He first came to national attention in 2006 for his playful Craigslistlieder, which set personal ads to theatrical piano accompaniment. (He would later take on celebrity tweets.) His adult alternative singer/songwriter debut took the form of the earnest and lyrical Where Are the Arms in 2011. He made his Billboard classical debut with 2016's The Fiction Issue, a collaboration with string quartet Brooklyn Rider. His 2018 solo album Book of Travelers reflected on a cross-country train trip he took to encourage in-person human interaction. Similarly, 2022's Magnificent Bird comprised songs written during a year spent offline. The more personal piano concerto Heirloom, featuring the Knights with his father Jeffrey Kahane on piano, appeared in 2025. He teamed up with Roomful of Teeth for 2026's Elevator Songs.
