In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember my dad singing “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder to me in the kitchen when I was about five. I didn’t understand the song then, but I remember feeling pure happiness. If I close my eyes, I’m right back in his New Jersey home, smiling. 🎶 What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Eminem, The Marshall Mathers LP Missy Elliott, Under Construction Tracy Chapman, Tracy Chapman Tracy Chapman made me love songs that tell stories & paint pictures. Eminem showed me how to be raw & fearless with wordplay. Missy Elliott’s *Under Construction* made me want to be an artist—unique, creative, authentic. She was what I aspired to be. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Christmas in Miami (feat. SL THE DON)” I wrote it 10 years before releasing it, and now I actually live in Miami. It was the first song an A&R ever praised, which gave me the confidence to feel like I was onto something and keep going. I always wanted to write something timeless. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I have a few, and most involve SL. There’s something magical about collaborating with a producer who can bring the ideas in my head to life. I’ll be tapping my feet or whistling a melody, and he turns it into something incredible. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Yes—to win a Grammy (or two). I want to make timeless music that adds that extra sauce to a movie scene and creates records that help people through tough times or motivate them. There’s still so much I want to do.
