In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest memories is falling in love with Aaliyah’s sound. Her voice pulled me in, and that led me to Timbaland. His beats and his work with Magoo opened a new world for me and made me want to understand music on a deeper level. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Janelle Monáe, The ArchAndroid (Deluxe) Solange, A Seat at the Table St. Vincent, MASSEDUCTION I chose these albums because they each opened my mind in different ways. The ArchAndroid showed me fearless creativity, A Seat at the Table taught me grace and depth, and Masseduction pushed my love for bold, artistic sound. It was the first time I used a song to tell a full story. ECHOES feels like part two. Both remind me how much I grew as a songwriter once I learned how to count syllables and build the structures that fit my voice.
