About José Maria Saluzzi

José Maria Saluzzi is a guitarist, requinto player, and percussionist from Argentina. The son of bandoneon master Dino Saluzzi, he's played on nearly all of his father's recordings since 1992's Mojotoro. He also played a key role on 1997's Cité de la Musique, which also included bassist Marc Johnson. The Saluzzis were joined by bassist Palle Danielson on 2003's Responsorium. He formed the Shades of Light Trio and released an eponymous album in 2004. He rejoined his father on 2006's Juan Condori, and the sessions also included his brothers, bassist Matias and saxophonist Felix. 2014's El Valle de la Infancia became one of the most celebrated albums in Dino's catalog for its innovative meld of tango and Latin jazz. Nine years later, Norwegian guitarist Jacob Young joined Dino and José for a tour, and then they entered the studio. The resulting album, El Viejo Caminante, arrived in 2025.
