About Ben Aubergine
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was 10, sitting in my room with a beat-up acoustic guitar, trying to learn the “Patience” solo by Guns N’ Roses with just one finger on the high E string. It sounded terrible, but it felt like music. That was the moment I knew I had to learn more. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Nirvana, Nevermind Pink Floyd, The Dark Side of the Moon Remastered The Beatles, Abbey Road (Remastered) DSOTM for its immersive atmosphere and story arc, Nevermind for its raw power and emotional honesty, Abbey Road for its melodic brilliance and structural perfection. Blend those three, and you get close to the kind of music I try to make. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Spoke For What I Knew” It’s about a moment when honesty led to distance instead of closeness between two people. Some connections break the moment you try to shape them. This is the sound of that break. I wrote it on an acoustic guitar in the 90s and finished it in 2025. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Finishing and releasing Spoke For What I Knew after 25 years felt like a quiet triumph. It reminded me that the work still matters—and gave me the motivation to finish all the other songs that have lived only as thoughts for decades. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to complete and release the songs I wrote in my teens and twenties — one by one, slowly and intentionally — until the vault is empty. Then I’ll be ready to write new music again, with nothing left over from years ago waiting to be finished.
