Jeff Burkhart

Jeff Burkhart is a musician, educator and artist in Durham, NC. He's currently working on several different projects including: a gardening project with a group of high school-aged kids, who are referred to as "365ers" because they're suspended from school for a year. This group is also involved in a photography project, in which Jeff is teaching the students photography and darkroom skills. Jeff is currently working with two different groups of young "at-risk" children, introducing them to dramatic improv and writing as ways to investigate their own behavior. He hopes to continue to do this type of work in the public school system. He is also a GED instructor, and loves the energy and excitement created daily in his class. Jeff is also a freelance writer, photographer, and graphic designer, and have worked with several bands in the past couple of months to produce promotional materials for them. Jeff plays and writes folk/blues/oldtime music that is sometimes raucious and sometimes sweet and sad. He plays regularly in coffee shops and street corners in the Durham/Chapel Hill area, and is putting plans together to record his first CD.
