One of the most influential and controversial artists of the early 21st century, Kanye West has gone from beatmaker to hitmaker with a wildly successful solo career that counted an unbroken string of chart-topping, multi-platinum albums and numerous Grammy Awards. His early work led to a major-label recording contract, yielding his classic 2000s school trilogy, which showcased his knack for sampling and witty wordplay. He continued to push genre boundaries with the vulnerable 808s & Heartbreak, his magnum opus My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and the industrial-edged Yeezus. Fame and a changing artistic vision informed much of his next era, heard on The Life of Pablo and Ye. As his personality began to eclipse his music, he still topped the charts with 2020's exploratory Donda. In 2023, West joined forces with Ty Dolla $ign to form ¥$, releasing Vultures 1 and Vultures 2. He released his long-teased album Bully in March 2026.
