The Outer Worlds Jazz Ensemble

The Outer Worlds Jazz Ensemble is a U.K.-based spiritual jazz and groove project founded in 2023 by bassist, producer, and ATA Records label boss Neil Innes (Work Money Death) and composer, saxophonist, and flutist Chip Wickham. Conceived to showcase unsung sidemen from the Leeds funk and jazz scenes, the ensemble's spiritual, 1970s-inspired sound, draws from expansive influences including Alice Coltrane, Yusef Lateef, David Axelrod, and Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Their revolving lineup features all members of Work Money Death and The Lewis Express) is chosen for specific projects. The band released its split debut single "Exit Athens"/"Beg, Borrow, Play" with ATA Records vets the Sorcerers in 2023. They returned in May 2026 with their debut full-length, The Kármán Line, with Wickham listed as a co-billed collaborator.
