About Kikù Hibino

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. At a recital organized by my grandmother, a piano teacher, I played a children’s rain song, “Pittan Pottan,” with only my right hand while other children performed Chopin. I felt embarrassed but detached, sensing music could take other forms. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? During a trip to Italy, I was struck by the flowing ornamentation of the Vatican and Florence. I imagined music with Merzbow where noise behaves like an ornament, proliferating across the surface. A year later, this became Rococo ∞ Echomatter.
