Setting

Setting makes joyous instrumental music assembled from group improvisations and molded into dense arrangements. The trio’s rustic electro-acoustic sound utilizes unlikely combinations of instruments, with banjo, zither, synthesizers, and rolling live drums all occupying space in their sprawling pieces. After sharing a series of live recordings and their 2023 album Shone a Rainbow Light On, Setting signed to Thrill Jockey for the release of their self-titled 2026 album.
