In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Ashes & Arrows began at an open mic in Asheville, NC. We met there, got together a few days later to hang out and ended up writing Back to Your Body. Playing it at that same open mic, the room lit up. A few months later we started the band. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Live from Mars Bon Iver, Bon Iver, Bon Iver Nirvana, Nevermind Bon Iver, Bon Iver, Live from Mars by Ben Harper, and Nevermind by Nirvana. Each shaped me at different times. Bon Iver opened my mind sonically, Ben Harper showed the power of live performance, and Nevermind is pure songwriting energy. Tell us why you chose this song. “Special Occasion (Live at Echo Mountain)” Special Occasion (Live at Echo Mountain) means a lot. It’s just a simple two-chord love song. That live take captured something honest in the room with bouzouki, brushes, and upright bass. Listening back, it just felt like the song landed. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Our America’s Got Talent audition stands out. We almost didn’t do it and didn’t expect to get past the audition. The crowd and judges responded in a big way, and making the semifinals was surreal and something we’re really grateful for. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Honestly, the biggest goal is just longevity. Music can be an unstable path, so being able to keep writing, touring, and doing this together for the next 20 or 30 years would feel like success to us.
