In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was about six or seven, sitting at the piano convinced I was about to write a hit. It was called Where Did You Go, I just played the same 3 notes while opera-singing “Where did you go” about a thousand times. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Daniel Caesar, Freudian Olivia Rodrigo, GUTS Sabrina Carpenter, emails i can’t send fwd: Emails changed the way I write and made me fall in love with the emotional side of pop. I remember listening to Freudian feeling like I was hearing “real music” for the first time. Olivia is one of my favorite artists, her way of writing is genius. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “This Time Next Year” This was such a personal moment for me. It’s about realizing I’d been hanging out with people who weren’t true friends, giving my energy to people who didn’t value me. The whole idea is that “this time next year,” none of it will matter. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I was performing at an outdoor mall singing through a big sound system that echoed everywhere. After my set a little girl came up to me with a flower, gave me a hug, and said “Thank you so much for singing, you’re amazing.” It was such a sweet moment Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I’d love to play at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Every concert I’ve seen there has been unreal. More than anything though, I just want people to connect with my music. There’s nothing better than someone telling you “Wow, you’re such a great writer.”
