In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a child, I was eye-level with the keys. I looked up & down at this sea of white and black notes. I had to stand to put my feet on the pedals. My dad told me I learned to read music before I could read English, and that music was my first language. Chick, Herbie, Keith, McCoy, and Bob Mintzer of the Yellowjackets. I had the privilege to have lessons Chick, and Bob and I have had great times playing gigs together. John Mills plays a great sax solo, and Aaron Easley plays drums so tasty! This tune fits my mold for contemporary jazz writing, and played with professionalism and impeccable improvisations.
