About Weird Nightmare

The solo vehicle of Metz frontman Alex Edkins, Toronto's Weird Nightmare makes jagged, electrifying garage punk with a strong dose of power pop melodicism. The project made its debut with an eponymous full-length released by Sub Pop in 2022. Metz went on hiatus at the end of 2024, leaving Edkins to focus on Weird Nightmare as his primary project. He teamed up with Spoon's Jim Eno to co-produced his sophomore album, 2026's Hoopla.
