About Birame

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My dad spent his time exploring rhythms from all over: Brazilian batucada, West African djembes, Middle Eastern darbuka patterns. On my birthdays, my friends and I would end up drumming together in the living room, led by him. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? James Blake, The Colour in Anything Sampha, Lahai (Deluxe) Solange, When I Get Home My three no-skip albums share one thing: a deeply introspective spirit. They redefine what soulful means today—wandering, yet rooted in one mind. I’ll never get over the productions: detailed, intentional, alive. I return to them again and again. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Worst Parts of You” I wrote this song after hearing Dancing Circles by Sampha—and if you listen to them back to back, I think you’ll hear the inspiration. When I started writing, it almost felt like the song wrote itself. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing at Botanique in Brussels was I think my favorite show so far. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? One day, I’d love to do a NPR's Tiny Desk concert. I’ve discovered so many artists I love through those videos—it’s such an honest space for music.
