A second U.S. hard rock group to emerge in the '80s under the name the Front, this incarnation comprised Michael Anthony Franano (vocals), Mike Greene (guitar), Bobby Franano (keyboards), Randy Jordan (bass), and Shane (drums). Unlike their namesakes, they specialised in material heavily influenced by the Doors; Michael Anthony Franano's vocals earned him a reputation as a Jim Morrison sound-alike, while his brother's dense keyboard patterns recalled Ray Manzarek's contribution to the same band. Despite a major label recording contract with Columbia Records, the band proved unable to break into the mainstream.
