Open Head

An experimental rock ensemble from Kingston, New York, Open Head play angular and atmospheric guitar-based music that ignores conventional melodic structures while holding the listener's attention with powerful, propulsive grooves and agile layerings of guitar noise. Creating much of their music through free improvisation, the band absorb and assimilate elements of electronic music, shoegaze, noise rock, industrial, and the avant-garde to craft an intelligent, challenging sound with a powerful sonic personality. The group made their recorded debut with 2022's Joy and Other Sufferings, and added a tighter attack, a more ambitious use of the studio, and experimentation with sampling and synthesizers on 2025's What Is Success.
