Kunwarr

By the time he released his debut single in 2020, Punjabi singer-songwriter Kunwarr had already absorbed a world of musical influences. The Canada-based artist, who is originally from Chandigarh and spent time as a student in Mumbai before moving to Toronto, grew up on a musical diet of Bollywood and Punjabi folk music, R&B and hip-hop—genres that often blend together in his sound. Kunwarr counts The Weeknd as a core inspiration, and is equally comfortable duetting with Afsana Khan on a rustic heartbreak anthem such as “Zakham” (2021) as he is trading verses with Riar Saab on a slick R&B ballad such as “Secrets” (2023). He’s got a knack for great dance tracks too, and in 2026 hit it big with the urgent and compelling electro-pop single “Piche Tere”.
