mark william lewis

London singer/songwriter Mark William Lewis' unique style incorporates elements of hypnagogic pop, ambient, indie rock, slowcore, and folk, topped with his sonorous baritone voice. Lewis grew up reading the poetry of T.S. Eliot, James Joyce, and Allen Ginsberg; he was also influenced by Nick Drake and the Durutti Column, as well as many visual artists. As an art student he was in a noise band called Bad Food, which would play in art galleries while he shouted his poetry over the top. His own solo music began to take shape when he moved to an 18th floor apartment in Deptford where he could look out over the city. His debut album, Living, appeared in 2023. In 2025 he became the first non-soundtrack artist to sign to A24 Music, which released his self-titled sophomore album in September of that year. ~ John D. Buchanan
