About Summer Camargo

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was only four years old, I remember how much I loved to watch Scottish bagpipers on TV with my grandpa. As a toddler, I also loved the music of Edith Piaf. I would ask my mom to play her CDs in the car all the time. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “80 Tears of Joy (feat. Joey DeFrancesco)” I wrote “80 Tears of Joy” as a tribute to my grandma on her 80th birthday, a few months after the passing of my grandpa, a Baptist preacher and gospel singer. Although many tears were shed, there is joy in knowing that we will see him again. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of the most memorable moments in my career so far was receiving a call from Lenny Pickett, the band leader of the Saturday Night Live House Band, asking if I was interested in becoming the next trumpet player. It was a surreal moment!
