About Tigran Hamasyan
Tigran Hamasyan is a pianist, composer, and keyboardist from Armenia. His compositions are deeply influenced by the scales and modes used in the Armenian folk tradition. Hamasyan is also influenced by jazz and progressive rock. 2011's A Fable strongly reflected his love of Armenian folk music and 2013's Shadow Theater melded jazz, folk, and progressive pop. 2015's Luys i Luso commemorated the centenary of the Armenian genocide was followed two years later by An Ancient Observer, which folded Armenian folk and sacred music into jazz and electronica. He scored the 2019 film They Say Nothing Stays the Same. 2020's The Call Within drew inspiration from contemporary and historical maps, poetry, Armenian culture, and geometry. 2024's The Bird of a Thousand Voices marked the musical realization of an early 20th century story by Gayane Grigor Gaboyan, and 2026's Manifeste infused the deep spiritual traditions of his Armenian heritage.
