Under the banner of 54 Ultra, John Anthony Rodriguez makes refined, warmly retro music that touches on Latin soul, indie pop, R&B, and synth pop. Drawing on his Puerto Rican and Dominican heritage, his bilingual songs are threaded with nostalgia, yet live comfortably in the modern world. Throughout the front half of the 2020s, Rodriguez developed his sound through singles like "Sierra" and "Where Are You," before finding viral success with his 2024 retro soul cut "Heaven Knows." His debut EP, First Works, appeared in 2025.
