Magic Tuber Stringband

North Carolinian folk duo Magic Tuber Stringband plays earthy music inspired by Appalachian traditions, yet more contemporary and experimental in nature. Multi-instrumentalists Courtney Werner and Evan Morgan began releasing music in 2019, offering sparsely-arranged, largely instrumental albums like 2021's When Sorrows Encompass Me 'Round and Wind Machines for various small labels. In 2024, they joined the roster of veteran indie Thrill Jockey which released their fifth album, Needlefall.
