About Dave Metzger

Film and television composer Dave Metzger has built much of his career at Disney, where his alternately rousing and sentimental orchestral music is well-suited to the studio's tales of adventure, fantasy, and family. He spent many years working primarily as an orchestrator and arranger on projects dating back to 1997's Speed 2: Cruise Control, and two years later, he joined the music department for Disney's Tarzan. In the meantime, Metzger picked up a Tony nomination for his orchestrations for Broadway's The Lion King. He went on to accumulate credits on releases such as Disney's Brother Bear (2003), DreamWorks' Kung Fu Panda (2008), Marvel/Disney's Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), and Disney's Frozen (2013) while earning the occasional main-composer credit on related spinoffs. His first theatrically released Disney film as sole score composer was Wish (2023). He was quickly brought back for Mufasa: The Lion King (2024).
