About Brògeal

Scottish folk-punk quintet Brògeal combine modern working-class indie, traditional melodies, and the raw energy of the Pogues into a raucous, moshpit-inducing mélange. Brògeal was formed in Falkirk, a small former steelworking town in central Scotland, originally as a punk band called Shiva. Later they incorporated traditional folk influences, teaching themselves to play instruments like mandolin, penny whistle, and bouzouki. With inspirations ranging from the Pogues and the Dubliners to the Libertines and the View, their songwriting was influenced by their everyday experiences, the declining fortunes of their hometown, and a strong sense of national identity. They swiftly built up a reputation as one of Britain's best live bands, inspiring moshpit frenzies wherever they went and accruing a diverse fan base of all ages. After the EPs Dirt and Daydreams and Brògeal, their debut album, Tuesday Paper Club, was released on PIAS in 2025.
