Battlesnake

Sydney, Australia-based heavy metal band Battlesnake weave sci-fi and fantasy storytelling into their music, with more than a few tongue-in-cheek elements. Formed by a group of friends in 2017, their ensemble approach allowed them to carry out their vision for an expansive, sci-fi/fantasy-inspired metal band, influenced just as much by their metal forebears as they were by fiction writers such as J.R.R. Tolkien and Frank Herbert. They spent their formative years playing small venues around Australia's capital, while worldbuilding a fictional universe for their debut EP, 2020's Myths and Legends from Gorbag's Domain, that would be featured heavily throughout their career. They released their self-titled debut album in 2023. Amid international touring, they released their second album, 2024's The Rise and Demise of the Motorsteeple, which saw even further acclaim. A third album, Dawn of the Exultants and the Hunt for the Shepherd, saw release in 2025.
