Tara Clerkin Trio

With a sound that encompasses warped trip-hop, subatomic dub, trippy folk, glitchy electronics, and incisive post-jazz, the Tara Clerkin Trio are hard to pin down but easy to admire for the way they pull all the various strands together to create music that's experimental and familiar, difficult to absorb fully but quite easy to love. After time spent creating music on their own, the three members of the group pooled their talents and crafted a debut record, 2020's self-titled release, that showed off their skills at merging acoustic instruments and electronics, while also writing memorable and emotionally satisfying songs. They continued to work on their approach for a few years, releasing two EPs while adding new sounds and honing their songwriting skills, before releasing the fully realized avant-trip hop album Somewhere Good in 2026.
