Banshee

Rachel Dorothea Knight, who operates under the moniker Banshee, is a Los Angeles-based songwriter, producer, and multi‑instrumentalist whose dynamic amalgamation of pop, metal, rap, and electronic subgenres has evolved into a signature style known as "fairy metal." Wielding a staff capable of a confluence of attacks, from hyperpop and witch house to symphonic black metal and trap, Knight's soft, melodic passages are paired with rabid, guttural screams, housing lyrics rooted in themes of LGBTQ, abuse, trauma, and empowerment, stemming from her experiences with misogyny and rape culture within the heavy music community. Since emerging in 2018, she has released a string of powerful, survivor-centric albums like F**k with a Banshee (2021), Fairy Metal (2022), Birth of Venus (2023), Fables (2025), and The Secrets to Altering Reality (2026).
