About Spear of Destiny
Formed from the ashes of Theatre Of Hate in early 1983, Spear Of Destiny took their name from the mythological weapon that pierced the body of Christ. Their debut met with mixed reviews but the follow-up, possibly the band’s best album, contained the anthemic singles "Rainmaker" and "Liberator." The commercial sound of 1985's WORLD SERVICE was greeted with dismay by hardcore fans. Its follow-up, OUTLAND, spawned the top 20 hit "Never Take Me Alive," and a high profile support slot with U2, but by the band couldn’t crack the mainstream. Despite myriad line-up changes, founder Kirk Brandon led Spear Of Destiny into the '00s, regularly playing to a fiercely loyal audience.
