Kid Brunswick

British singer/songwriter Brunswick emerged in 2019 playing an atmospheric, gothy blend of rock, R&B, and trap all built around his yearning, breathy vocals. It was a sound he showcased on his mixtape We Surround Ourselves with Chaos. Hailing from Ealing in West London, Brunswick was only 19 years old when he began posting his moody goth- and R&B-inflected songs online. Around 2017 he dropped out of college and was subsequently kicked out of his family's home. He spent a period sleeping at London's Strongroom studios before landing in Brighton. There, he became swept up in the local music and club scene, listening to electronic artists and rediscovering a cross-section of '90s rock bands from the Stone Roses to Nirvana. Soon, he was working at home, recording songs written on the guitar with tracks produced on his laptop -- a sound he dubbed "rhythm and grunge." He posted his tracks online and started garnering followers. Over time, his sound developed as it picked up elements of R&B, goth, trap, and electro styles. In 2019, Brunswick released the nine-track mixtape We Surround Ourselves with Chaos, which included the songs "Cold Sores" and "Medication." ~ Matt Collar
