About Circle Sky

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Michael Culhane, Matt Keating, & John Sharples started out learning MC's first original songs as 70s teenagers, singing and jamming solo John Lennon tunes along the way as they learned how to play their guitar, keyboard & drums together respectively. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Cheap Trick, Cheap Trick / In Color / Heaven Tonight The Monkees, The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees (Deluxe Edition) Tin Machine, Tin Machine (Remastered) Remastered The band name Circle Sky was partially inspired by the Michael Nesmith song; songwriters Michael Culhane & Matt Keating like Cheap Trick have roots in Rockford, IL; for the debut Tin Machine concert David Bowie chose Circle Sky to open the show. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Circle Sky (Live at Mercury Lounge 4november1996 Nyc)” Circle Sky became the Boston rock band's name because the song and the concept conjure universality, wholeness, unity, pleasing shapes, roundness as in the round table, nature, a somewhat psychedelic appreciation of our meta & physical surroundings. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Opening for David Bowie at his request was the highlight of our career. He picked the songs personally after an hour spent listening to various groups and choosing Circle Sky. He watched us perform and gave band leader Michael Culhane compliments. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? A Circle Sky reunion would be a highlight after productive solo careers by each of the band members. We continue to release highlights from our work so far, and have much more in store to share. Show us how much you care!
