Ruth Garbus

Ruth Garbus is an artful, literate indie singer/songwriter whose sparse songs span introspection, the imagination, and observation of the everyday. After spending time in Vermont-based indie bands Feathers and Happy Birthday and sharing some acoustic solo demos, she released her first solo album, Rendezvous with Rama, in 2010. Garbus gradually broadened her instrument palette while keeping her sound spacious but intimate across releases like 2014's Joule EP and the 2019 full-length Kleinmeister. The all-original live album Alive People appeared in 2023 and was followed by her third studio album, 2026's Profound. Its graceful, sometimes playful, sometimes poignant song selection included two English translations of Gabriel Fauré songs.
