An inventive indie combo from Los Angeles, glass beach navigate emo, metal, jazz fusion, prog rock, chiptunes, and more in a paradoxically digestible manner. Following a handful of self-released singles, they made their full-length debut with 2019's the first glass beach album, which leaned into emo. The following year, glass beach signed with Run for Cover, which reissued their debut and handled their follow-up. Drawing on non-musical influences including the novel Finnegans Wake's surrealism, the scrambled Dadaism of Tristan Tzara, and Jenny Holzer's Truisms, their over-hour-long sophomore album, 2024's plastic death, was more spontaneous and stylistically diverse yet even more compelling.
