In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Meeting Townes Van Zandt at the Cactus Cafe in Austin, TX after he played a set. I was 11 years old, and he was just about the coolest person I'd ever met. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Gillian Welch, Time (The Revelator) John Cale, Paris 1919 Neil Young, Tonight's the Night Paris 1919, because it's one of the best and most cohesive albums ever. Gillian's Time, The Revelator because it's about as good as acoustic music gets. Tonight's the Night, because I like it when Neil goes to the dark places and comes back ok. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Stars, My Destination” It's the first single off an album that is near and dear to my heart, and that will be out this summer. I've been playing this one for a long time, and it's nice to actually have it in a place where other folks can hear it. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I made a record recently with 10 of my best songwriter friends. We're calling it the Polaroid Collective, and the album will be out later this summer. It's one of the musical highlights of my time as a musician so far. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd like to actually go on tour, but as a musician with a day job, this has been hard to accomplish. A proper summer string of dates that gets me on the road for a while would be lovely.
