In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my favorite musical memories is when I was 13 years old and first discovered Joni Mitchell. I was gifted a cassette tape of her "Ladies in the Canyon" album, along with a boom box to play it on. Her music was unique and I was entranced! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Adrianne Lenker, Bright Future Bonny Light Horseman, Rolling Golden Holy (feat. Anaïs Mitchell, Eric D. Johnson & Josh Kaufman) Watchhouse, Watchhouse The lyrics in all of these albums draw me in. They tell relatable stories in unique ways and they all embrace vulnerability. The production of these albums also embrace wide soundscapes that I also enjoy in my own music. It's the first song I wrote for the album that I knew would inform the feel and vibe of the rest of the songs. The lyrics are deeply personal but I love that this song can be universally understood.
