Naked Lunch

Playing a sophisticated brand of alternative rock that blends engaging tunes with aggressive guitars and noisy yet intelligent production, Naked Lunch are one of Austria's most celebrated bands. Led by songwriter and vocalist Oliver Welter, Naked Lunch can find room for psychedelia, shoegaze, electronica, and moody pop throughout the course of an album, while their songs are smart and often full of mordant wit. After cutting an EP and LP for a German indie label (1991's Naked and 1992's Balsam), the group landed a major-label deal for 1997's Superstardom and 1999's Love Junkies. 2004's Songs for the Exhausted, meant to be their final album, gave them a second wind, and 2006's This Atom Heart of Ours earned them a hit single, "Military of the Heart." After a decade away from the studio, Welter revived Naked Lunch for 2025's Lights (and a Slight Taste of Death).
