About Somebody's Child

Somebody's Child are a passionate indie band from Dublin, Ireland. Led by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cian Godfrey, their sound is restless, hooky, dynamic, and unpredictable. Godfrey's voice and lyrics are saturated in male vulnerability, confusion, longing, regret, courage, and accountability, while their songwriting and production alternately reflect the influences of New Order, Waterboys, Deacon Blue, Stiff Little Fingers (à la Nobody's Heroes and Go for It) and even U2. After forming in 2018, they began issuing singles in 2019 like "Distance" and "Jungle." During the pandemic they released a whopping five singles, including "Top Drawer Romance" and "Love That Sound." 2021 saw the indie hit "The Lover." Somebody's Child signed with venerable indie Frenchkiss Records and released their eponymous debut in 2023. It registered across the U.K. and North America. They followed with When Youth Fades Away in 2025.
