Santiago Rodríguez is a cumbia pop producer from Uruguay. A professional since at least the early 2020s, Rodríguez managed to build quite a reputation for himself as an independent producer of cumbia, tropical, and Latin urban music. His strategy of scouting emergent talent on social media and releasing as many singles as quickly as possible in the hope that some would achieve virality, put him in touch with a wide array of young Uruguayan artists. The most successful of these was definitely the cumbia pop band the La Planta, for whom Rodríguez helmed several hits. Flor Álvarez's "Tattoo" also went viral in 2024. Rodríguez eventually relocated to Buenos Aires, home to a significantly bigger industry, fostering further associations with Argentine acts such as Migrantes, Lauty Gram, and Pedro Monardi, to name but a few.
