In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Dancing on the living room carpet with my little brother to my mom’s piano practice. Her classical training ended in middle school, so it was like Für Elise, Moonlight Sonata, The Little White Donkey. Very formative/feral memory, close to my heart. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Broadcast, Tender Buttons Lou Reed, Street Hassle Nina Simone, Nina Simone and Piano! (Remastered) Tender Buttons by Broadcast, and Street Hassle by Lou Reed, I’ve loved since I was in high school and have never stopped resonating with me. Tell us why you chose this song. “i quit cigs” “i quit cigs” captures the kind of vital, urgent energy I value in my own music and that of others. It features a sax solo by my friend Carolyn Hietter and the ending riff locks into a cathartic, flowing wavelength that I always want to get to.
