BAEST

Baest is a death metal quintet based in Denmark. Their punishing unclean vocals and riff-and-chug-heavy aesthetic emerge directly from 1990s through mid-2000s death metal. Critics greeted early albums including 2018's Danse Macabre and 2019's Venenum with comparisons to Morbid Angel and Entombed before the band evolved to create their own musical approach on 2021's concept-driven, dystopia-themed Necro Sapiens, followed by 2022's Justitia EP. Since 2015, the band has maintained the original lineup with vocalist Simon Olsen, guitarists Svend Karlsson and Lasse Revsbech, bassist Mattias Melchiorsen, and drummer Sebastian Abildsten. Since 2018, they've played close to 700 shows internationally, owing to a near-fanatical fan base. January 2024 saw the release of the "Colossal" single; it was followed by "Imp of the Perverse" in May before the band hit the road playing the summer music festival circuit. In August 2025 they released the nine-track Colossal containing all five pre-release singles.
