In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I drove one state over to work with Jay-Z’s producer Ski Beatz, crashed under his piano for a few hours, and then drove straight back to work in Virginia. All heart, hustle, and love for the craft. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? A Tribe Called Quest, Midnight Marauders Camp Lo, Uptown Saturday Night Dwele, Subject Dwele’s Subject taught me songwriting and feel. Midnight Marauders shaped who I am musically. Uptown Saturday Night felt like a movie, and Camp Lo later became mentors. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “1000xs (feat. Shari)” 1000xs is special because the first verse is about my daughter, the second about a lost love. It’s me having real conversations with myself about protecting, healing, and owning my mistakes. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Touring with Kid Is Qual taught me how to be a real musician. I learned the grind of the road, how to hone my performance, and what it truly takes to grow as a songwriter and artist. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to tour as a main act and have my daughter there to witness it — to show her firsthand what resilience, passion, and growth can build.
