Barry Allen

About Barry Allen

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Traveling from Edmonton to Clovis, NM in 1963 to record with Norman Petty at his Studio. Norman suggested doing separate recordings and possibly getting a second recording contract (beyond Wes Dakus & The Rebels' instrumental music) as a solo artist. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “That'll Be The Day (feat. Barry Allen)” This was my first recording at C.J.C.A in Edmonton. I had just met Wes while coming down the elevator of the building and he told me they were recording some demos, he told me to come along and do a song with them in the studio. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Signed to Capitol Records Canada in 1965, later in the year receiving Canada's Gold Leaf Award for Most Promising Male Vocalist. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Released "Speed Of Dark" in 2019, his first solo album since 1970.
