With silken vocals and heartfelt, multilingual lyrics exploring personal and universal themes like isolation, self-affirmation, overcoming fears, and finding hope in an unjust world, the stylistically diverse soul songs of French-Senegalese musician Anaiis reflect her nomadic background. She attracted a great deal of attention with her early-2018 single "Nina," which was quickly followed by her R&B debut album, Darkness at Play (2019). Anaiis presented her second LP, This Is No Longer a Dream, in 2021, which was re-released in an extended deluxe edition in 2023.
