Andrew Drury

About Andrew Drury

Born and raised in Washington State, creative jazz drummer/composer Andrew Drury studied with Ed Blackwell at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, and recorded his first album as a leader, Polish Theater Posters, in 1996 after returning to the Seattle area. Drury was soon drawn back eastward, however, settling in Brooklyn and during the new millennium collaborating with many of the borough's top avant jazz artists, while also issuing his own recordings such as My Fingers Will Be Your Tears (2000), A Momentary Lapse (2003), and Renditions: Solos 2004-2007 (2007). In 2015 he released two companion albums, the quartet date Content Provider and The Drum (featuring sounds produced using only a floor tom), on his Soup & Sound Recordings imprint. Drury has also been active in numerous educational and social programs. ~ Dave Lynch
