About Carlos Izcaray
Conductor and cellist Carlos Izcaray has led orchestras around the world, appearing most often in South America and in the U.S., where he was partly trained. He is the music director of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. Izcaray made headlines when he was abused by Venezuelan security forces after an anti-government demonstration there. Izcaray has appeared on several recordings, including 2024's Kris Bowers: For a Younger Self, on which he conducted the American Youth Symphony.
