Jimothy Lacoste

London-based rapper Jimothy Lacoste began as a viral sensation, although he soon carved a path toward mainstream recognition with his quirky, dead-pan style and distinct personality. Born Timothy Gonzales, Lacoste never quite clicked with the British education system, instead turning to music and creative pursuits. At first, he was content making music for his own satisfaction, but began venturing into music videos with the help of some friends. After uploading a string of singles in 2017 -- including "Getting Busy," "Subway System," and "I Can Speak Spanish" -- his deadpan delivery, midi beats, and lo-fi videos caught the attention of an internet audience. Noticing the hype build around the eccentric but talented character, Black Butter Records signed him to the label. Now with a more serious audience taking notice, he was booked to play at festivals in the summer of 2019, including appearances at Field Day and Glastonbury. ~ Liam Martin
