Midwife

New Mexico-based multi-instrumentalist Midwife crafts an otherworldly mix of shoegaze, lo-fi, and dream pop with an experimental edge. The project of Madeline Johnston, Midwife's debut album, Like Author, Like Daughter, appeared in 2017, while a deal with The Flenser helped propel her sound to a wider audience with the release of 2020's Forever and 2021's Luminol. Collaborating with Vyva Melinkolya on 2023's Orbweaving, Midwife followed it up with 2024's No Depression in Heaven, then worked with Matt Jencik on 2025's Never Die.
