The Autumn Defense

Crafting a smart, sophisticated variation on 1970s soft rock and artful '60s pop, the Autumn Defense make lush indie pop that's ideal for rainy-day listening and autumn strolls. Led by John Stirratt and Pat Sansone of Wilco, the group embraces a pop classicism that evokes music of the past, though their open spaces and thoughtful songwriting give their work an individual voice. Making their debut with 2001's The Green Hour, the Autumn Defense fully came into their own with their self-titled third album in 2007. 2014's Fifth was another triumph of studio music-making, and after an 11-year layoff, 2025's Here and Nowhere was certainly worth the wait.
